Custom fields are a way of storing and representing contact data other than the standard set of fields.
Most marketing automation tools offer First name, Last Name, Email, Company, Phone Number, Country, and so on. However, businesses may require certain unique fields for particular campaigns.
For instance, if you are trying to verify leads based on their annual turnover, you can add an ‘annual turnover amount’ custom field.
This enables you to send a campaign to only those contacts who qualify for the same.
Capturing of information — through a landing page or any other external source — is limited to those fields within the system.
However, EngageBay allows you to create and add custom fields to your contact information.
Here’s how to do it:
i. In the upper right corner, click on your Account Avatar.
ii. Go to Account Settings.
iii. Choose Custom Fields from the list of options on the left.
iv. Add Custom Field. Based on where you want the custom field to be available; for contacts, companies, deals, tickets, or products, you can click on the respective tab and create the field.
If you want it to be available on all, you can check all of the ones you need the file on.
v. It will provide a pane where you can set your fields.
Enter Label, Description, and select the Type. Once you are done with the configuration, click on Submit.
vi. You can now see your custom field listed on the Custom Fields page.
